Pile-up you are the DX station

A rare expedition, and everyone calls you at once. Type a callsign, or a part of it with “?”, send the report, next! The score: your QSOs per minute. All games

The pile-up is waiting

Two minutes on the air. A full callsign and Enter: QSO. “F4?” or “?ABC”: only those who match call again. Beware of miscopied callsigns and dupes!

Running a pile-up

Take the one you copy in full: DL1ABC and Enter. They answer, the report goes out (5NN), the QSO goes into the log.
Only a part? Send it with “?”: ?ABC, DL1?. Those who match call again, in full; the others stand by.
A miscopied callsign ends up in the log all the same, wrong: a penalty. A dupe (a station already in the log calling again) too.
Weak signals (S3, S4) lose letters: wait for them to call again, or ask for a partial.
In split (“chaos”), they call 1 to 5 kHz up: tune your receiver with the arrows or a click on the waterfall; outside the window, nothing can be read.

The rhythm QSOs following each other within eight seconds make a chain: ×2 at three, ×3 at six. A good DX operator keeps up more than two QSOs a minute.
